Summary
The buying power of people of color and gender/sexual minorities has increased dramatically over the past 10 years through better wealth management, unique opportunities, and strong drive. What’s been missing from the equation is representation. ColorCoded is the ultimate tool to bridge the gap between the consumer and the business and allow the consumer to invest in their community without bending to the will of big business. ColorCoded supports entrepreneurship for young people of color, those looking for a fresh start, and established minority business owners and their allies.

PROGRAMS

Consumers of color are tired of supporting corporations that only use them as a selling tool. Businesses and consumers of color both want to be better represented in their communities. How can we showcase those businesses to the consumers in their own community?
Minorities have tons of spending power but are not accurately represented.
This causes those consumers to spend less. The goal is to bring minority communities all over the nation together through one app. This will give businesses a voice and the ability to grow in a majority-white America. This app will not only support minority-driven communities but also support the intersection of sociology, race, and economics in America.

If there is a crisis going on in the world, Colorcoded will be able to alert users on how they can help.
What’s Next
The next step in this process will be testing the app in the real world with potential users. I will provide the app to them through either a phone or tablet. This will give me a better understanding of what needs to be changed. After testing, I will continue to apply the design thinking process to make the app better and see where it takes me from there.
